The fate of the world is in our hands. The state of the environment becomes more dire with every report that is broadcast. It all rests on our shoulders. Could it get any more overwhelming? Though the task is big, every person can make a substantial difference, but where to start? The answer is simple: recycling boxes.

People need to be educated about the ways that they can personally help with global efforts. For that there have been public service ads running for years on end. However, for some people even what these ads propose is still overwhelming. For these people it is wisest to start small with just one type of recyclable material.

Have you ever stopped to think about just how prevalent boxes are in our world. Our food comes packaged in them. Kids toys are packed in them. Most things we buy come packaged in them. Ever notice how quickly they can take of space in your garbage bin? Think about how fast they add up in a landfill.

Once it is recycled what happens next? It gets turned into other stuff, of course! It can easily end up back on the supermarket shelf, right where you found it the first time. It can be turned into a paper grocery sac. It could also be used for heavy duty cardboard needs. Think in terms of how it could be used in industrial factory packing supplies. This greatly reduces the amount that is needed to come from raw materials.

It could even end up being your Sunday edition of the newspaper. It has long been a complaint against newspapers that they require too many trees to be cut down in order to put out their product every day. If it is all printed on recycled paper then that is one problem that is solved. It all starts by making sure that the empty cereal box goes in your recycling bin.

Once you get the hang of the whole box concept, you can widen your scope a little to include other types of recyclables. Next try to add the pop bottles that you drink every day. These take a considerable amount of time to break down in a landfill, so to start making sure they make into the recycling heap is a great thing.

When plastics are recycled it starts to get really interesting. These can be made into any number of things. They might be turned back in to plastic containers of some sort, but that is just the tip of the iceberg. It could also be the next shirt that you buy. It might even be the stuffing in your next bed comforter.

The earth belongs to no one and we are all just here using its resources. It is our responsibility then to take care of it in return, as it takes care of us. It can be done, even if all you do is start with recycling boxes.

With many years of exploitation several precious natural resources have been depleted. Today the planet is up against insufficient assets to carry out duties associated with our day to day lives. This shortage of fuel, water, along with other essential resources offers raised issues in several nations. These days, finding and using alternative energy is becoming more critical than ever before.

One hundred years ago, oil was a relatively inexpensive resource that many people used without much difficulty we thought there was an endless supply. Today this is a natural resource that is highly depleting. Countries that supply oil charge high costs which makes it difficult for many government authorities to effective deal with the high rates.

Shortages in oil and other natural resources isn’t something which was discovered until recently. It had been actually first experienced in the 1970s by the Americans who had to wait in long lines to fill up their vehicles with fuel, they were called the gas wars and they were ugly. The availability of gas was not enough to supply to all the people in America. The great United States was confronted with a huge dilemma. This led to the search for alternative energy sources. I remember when I was younger people fighting over gas shortages at the pump, even more distressing was the price of gas it was around 50 cents a gallon and we thought it outrageous. A few years short years ago gas was nearly 5.00 a gallon. How did we settle for that?

Currently, many specialists have made several breakthroughs in their discovery of alternative energy sources, however the fact remains that the costs associated with resources all of us use today are higher than never before.

The usage of wind, water and sun are the main components in the number of alternative energy sources found in the present day. It has been experimented and proved that geothermal power; hydropower or even solar power can be utilized in the production of electricity. This is good news and many folks have started using solar panels in their homes to help reduce energy costs. Let us each one learn more about renewable energy, recycling and doing our share to reduce waste in our community.

Thankfully, paper is not a difficult material to recycle, and there are excellent benefits for the environment when the procedure is completed. Once it has been collected (by either your local authority or a recycling company acting on their behalf), it is taken to a paper mill, who take care of the rest of the recycling process.

Once at the mill, the scrap paper is added to water and then turned into pulp. Having been turned into pulp, it is then cleaned and de-inked. The final stage of the paper recycling process is for the pulp to be turned back into rolls of paper, which can then be used for newspapers, toilet rolls, etc.

So, now that you know how simple the recycling process for paper is, lets look at benefits that it brings…

Saves Trees – The less brand new (referred to as ‘virgin’) paper that is needed, the less trees have to be cut down. Vast areas have already been ruined as a direct of deforesting for paper, and this needs to stop as by doing so we are unbalancing eco-systems and the atmosphere.

Wildlife Preservation – More often than not, the wildlife that lives in the trees that are cut down to make ‘new’ paper, die quickly because they cannot adapt to living anywhere else. Recycling paper means that they can die natural deaths instead of forced ones.

Saves Space – We need to save as much space as possible in landfill sites to prevent more having to be created, and 3 cubic yards can be saved per ton of recycled paper.

Less Pollution – Paper can burn in municipal waste incinerators that can spew out all kinds of air pollutants. When many incinerators are in urban locations, everyone would benefit from breathing better air if there were fewer of them.

Creates Jobs – Think about all the people who work within the paper recycling industry. Collectors, sorters and machine operators being just a few of them. The more that we recycle, the more of these jobs there will be created.

Sets A Precedent – Paper is probably the easiest thing to recycle, so it is a good starting point for those who do not currently recycle at all. Having gotten into the habit of recycling paper, and seeing that it really is not difficult, people are more likely to start recycling other items too.

Cheaper Paper – Recycled paper is often cheap to purchase. Buying cheaper, recycled goods encourages more recycled goods to be manufactured, sustaining the recycling industry.

One reason recycling plastic is important is because it can be used to make other useful products instead of going into a land fill. I found this article that I thought might be of interest to you, it’s just one of many uses for recycled milk jugs. Look for more to come.

The Benefits of Recycling Plastic

By TK Ruse

Plastic is used for so many products that we use every day. From car bumpers to packaging, plastic is a part of our daily lives. Some of the most common products that contain plastic that we use every day is water bottles and plastic milk jugs. But many of us do not give a second thought to what happens when they are put into the recycling bin and sent off to the recycling plant.

Many of the recycled plastic products such as plastic milk jugs find new life as plastic lumber. These plastic milk jugs are first separated from the other plastics, cleaned and are then ground into small pieces. After the milk jugs are ground, they are then melted down. Once all the pieces have melted, they go through an extruder that molds them into a rectangular oblong shape. The consistency of the recycled plastic when it is coming out of the extruder is somewhat reminiscent of play dough. The dough like substance is then ran through a cooling chamber on a conveyer belt that has hundreds of jets that shoot cool water. By cooling the plastic keeps it from rising like dough and cools it down. The plastic lumber is then air-dried and is run through yet another water-cooling chamber. After the plastic lumber is cooled down, the top layer is heated slightly again and ran through an embosser. The embosser gives it a wood grain stamp. These embossments and colors can also be custom made to order.

Plastic lumber can then be made into many different products. When we visit our local or state park, we do not think much about the bench we are sitting on or the picnic table that we are using. Many of these were once milk jugs sitting in our fridge at one time or another. These plastic milk jugs have taken on a new life as playground equipment, benches and picnic tables.

Not only can recycled plastic lumber be made into benches and tables at the park, it can also be used just like traditional wooden lumber. Homeowners are now realizing that decks and fences last longer when made out of plastic lumber then traditional wooden lumber.

The many benefits of recycling plastic are numerous. By recycling plastics, they can have a new life as other products that we use in and outside of the home. So, next time at the park remember that many of the benches and picnic tables would not be there if plastic milk jugs were not recycled.

After recycling, many milk jugs are made into plastic lumber which can be used for many various home improvement ideas and projects.

Portable trash compactors also referred to as a convertible trash compactor because of the ability to convert it to a built in installation. Portable trash compactors are perfect for folks who need trash compactor functionality but can take it with them if they decide to move.

Let’s face it trash is inevitable but getting rid of it doesn’t have to be the chore it used to be. A trash compactor lessons the frequency of you having to take the trash outside. By compacting your garbage it creates more space, eliminates trash bags, and will help save trips to the local landfill.

Portable trash compactors have special bags which are more costly than regular trash bags the good news is you use less of them. You should note that glass bottles and jars should not be placed a trash compactor, you also might want to consider not putting food scraps in your compactor because you’ll be emptying your trash less often and it may build up an odor and make your kitchen smell bad.

Unfortunately like regular trash cans you will occasionally have to clean the inside of your trash compactor using warm water and mild detergent should take care of it. A portable trash compactor can also be used exclusively for aluminum cans and plastic bottles condensing them into one little neat bag that you can take to the recycling center. Most portable trash compactor manufacturers recommend a grounded circuit.

Gladiator portable trash compactor – This handy portable trash compactor has a convenient touch toe drawer opener and a foot pedal that opens the compactor if your hands are full. It also has rubber casters that make it very easy to move. Your front casters can lock keeping it in place and also has an anti-jam mechanism.

Whirlpool convertible trash compactor – This trash compactor can be used as a freestanding portable or built-in unit it has automatic anti-jam quiet pack, a tilt trash basket, and a slide and release bin it also has a touch toe drawer, and hidden controls to prevent accidental usage.

Kenmore convertible trash compactor – Tilt trash basket, toe-bar drawer opener, side release bin, a start stop lock with a removable key for safety, built in or freestyle frameless look.
